Hawks spokesperson Brig Hangwani Mulaudzi mentioned the operation adopted allegations of the awarding of tenders by the municipality with out following due processes.

“Since 2016 up to now, numerous firms and different service suppliers allegedly colluded with municipal officers and have been paid tens of millions for fictitious work.”

Mulaudzi mentioned it was alleged municipal officers endorsed sure firms and registered fictitious companies to ensure that them to be awarded profitable tenders, thus benefiting from illegal and fraudulent funds.

“Many of the firms weren’t registered on the municipality’s database.”

He mentioned the operation was profitable and led to the seizure of numerous paperwork and digital tools which might help within the ongoing investigation.
